truck fart . . .
jim (dad) planted the drag race bug with me through stories of racing in lyons indiana.
if i can catch a nostalgia race i will. yesterday i caught a real whopper up in wisconsin at the great lakes dragaway (the oldest operating strip in america)
i’ll be compiling photos from this race into the first in a series of motorsport/art of car books called “truck fart”
the name of the series comes from me farting around the country in my truck documenting the art of car/truck/bike. i would love to feature different builders, painters, drivers as well as a variety of events.
my feelings on the automobile fall pretty close to the song “lord mr. ford” (written by deena kaye rose/dick feller) performed by jerry reed.
being born in 1980 gave me the opportunity to grow up seeing a lot more classic automobile design and classic car culture. every year automobile design continues to degrade into “beige” blobs, all the joy (fun) and beauty is long gone, except for occasional feeble attempts at throwback design.
there are remnants of the art of automobile that survive through a few builders and enthusiasts and i hope to document those.
